My Doctor Told the SSA what?!?! Tuesday, 19 August 2008 17:11 Many times in the past this blog has focused around documenting your disability impairments with your doctor. At the initial application level more than 65% of disability claims are denied. Why is this?
In many instances a doctor may make comments that lead you to believe he understands that you are disabled. When he performs a writen report to the SSA the same information is not always expressed and the writen report by your doctor does not always go in your favor.
Remember when meeting with you doctor to explain and detail your disability. Make sure he is writing things down! Too often those that appear to be disabled don't win benefits because of a lack of documentation. If you can't stand, tell you doctor how long you can stand until you need to sit down. Have a shortness of breath? Tell your doctor how long it take for you to recover.
